What you will be able to do

    • Build a reliable daily AI routine you actually keep — not a one-off experiment

    • Choose one daily-driver AI tool and set it up in about 15 minutes

    • Write prompts that work the first time using the PRISM framework (Persona, Request, Intent, Structure, Model)

    • Save hours each week on email, meetings, documents, and research

    • Judge whether an AI output is good enough to use with the TRUST framework

    • Share work information safely by running the GUARD safety checklist first

    • Leave with a personal prompt library and a written 30-day plan to make it stick

    The curriculum

Module by module, in the order they are assigned.

Why AI at Work — and Your Toolbox

AI now sits inside familiar work tools, so professionals need a practical way to move from occasional experiments to safe daily habits. You leave able to explain the shift, recognise The Three-Stage Trap, sort Standalone chat tools, Embedded AI, and Specialist tools, check access, and choose a daily driver.

Prompting AI at Work with PRISM

Prompting AI at work with PRISM shows how Persona, Request, Intent, Structure, and Model turn thin asks into usable drafts for everyday tasks where audience, tone, and stakes matter. You can scale PRI, PRIS, and full PRISM, redirect weak drafts, keep judgement with you, and build a reusable prompt library.

    AI for Email and Meetings

Email, messaging, and meetings are the fastest places to build an AI habit because they are high-volume, repeatable, and surrounded by mechanical work. By the end, learners can triage and draft messages, prepare, capture, and recap meetings, and apply judgement on voice, confidentiality, consent, policy, and authorship.

    AI for Documents and Research

AI for documents and research covers how AI helps with outlining, drafting, editing, summarising, and workplace fact-finding while accountable judgment stays with the writer. By the end, learners can choose source-cited tools, spot high-stakes boundaries, and apply TRUST before documents or research outputs leave their desk.

    AI Safety at Work

AI safety at work starts before the paste, because work data can be confidential, personal, regulated, or commercially sensitive and the wrong tool can create exposure that cannot be undone. By the end, you can run GUARD, classify data tiers, check employer rules, choose safer paths, and write one-page Personal AI Use Rules.

Working With AI on a Team, and Your First 30 Days

Open AI use turns private habits into team practice, reducing duplicated effort, unclear boundaries, and safety near-misses. You can raise AI with managers and colleagues, set four practical norms, use Replace, Assist, Elevate, Create to protect skills, and run Observe, Try, Build, Reflect.

    Assessment and certificate

The course closes with a timed final exam with a pass mark and a limited number of attempts. A pass issues a PDF certificate with its own serial, in the name of the Straits Institute for Applied AI. Cohort progress, at-risk learners and a CSV export are in the admin console throughout.

    About this course

Do I need any AI experience to take this course?

No. It assumes you have tried an AI tool at least once and takes you from there. No technical background, coding, or prior training is required.

Which AI tool do I need?

Any one will do — a standalone chat tool like ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini, or an AI built into your work apps (Microsoft 365 Copilot, Google Workspace). Module 1 helps you pick a daily driver and set it up.

Is it safe to use AI with work information?

That is exactly what Module 5 covers. You learn the GUARD checklist — Gauge, Understand, Authority, Risk, Decide — to decide what is safe to share, how to read your employer's AI policy, and how to write your own Personal AI Use Rules.

How long is the course and how is it delivered?

Six modules of about 60 minutes each — roughly six hours in total, self-paced, with a watch, then try, then practise rhythm. Each module ends with something you can use at your desk the next morning.

Will AI replace my job or do my thinking for me?

No. The whole course is built on the idea that AI is a tool to help you, not replace you. You stay the boss: AI drafts and speeds the work, and you keep the judgement, the context, and the final decision.

    Who is this course for?

Any employee who works at a desk for part of the day and produces written or analytical work — analysts, coordinators, customer-service leads, HR generalists, junior engineers, teachers, graduate trainees, and similar roles. It is not aimed at managers, business owners, or existing AI power users.

Put this in front of a team.

Course libraries are assigned per user, team or department, and the reporting comes back to whoever has to answer for the programme. Tell us who needs it and we will show you the console.
