## Who it is for

People managers, team leads, department heads, and anyone accountable for team performance — from three reports to thirty, across marketing, customer service, clinical, operations, and engineering settings. No technical background required.

## What you will be able to do

- Distribute work deliberately across yourself, your team, and AI using the Manager's Delegation Matrix, instead of absorbing everything yourself.

- Prepare 1:1s, document performance, and structure decisions with AI support — the management work that usually gets squeezed out by the day job.

- Run coaching conversations that hold up, with AI used for preparation and structure rather than as a substitute for judgement.

- Hold a straight conversation with your team about which tools they use, what the policy is, and what gets disclosed.

- Lead your team through AI adoption with a dual-track 30-day plan that builds your own practice and your team's capability at the same time.

- Keep the accountability that is yours as a manager clearly separated from the work AI can carry.

## The curriculum

Module by module, in the order they are assigned.

### How AI Changes the Manager's Job

AI has moved from private productivity into team practice, leaving managers to close the gap between scattered use and clear norms. By the end, you can identify high-impact management tasks, sort work with the AI Opportunity Matrix and Augmentation Ladder, and lead visible, accountable use.

### Prompting AI for Management Tasks

This module turns prompting from a task request into a management briefing habit, because useful AI output depends on the team, reader, situation, purpose, format, and tone a manager supplies. By the end, learners can apply PRISM across recurring manager tasks, treat first replies as drafts, and start a reusable prompt library.

### Deciding Who Does What: You, Your Team, or AI

AI-era delegation now requires managers to choose among personal ownership, team ownership, AI-first drafting, and automated workflows instead of repeating old task habits. Managers can check AI fit, place tasks on the Manager’s Delegation Matrix, and identify work to automate, draft AI-first, delegate for development, or keep hands-on.

### Using AI for People, Performance, and Meetings

AI use in people work, performance documentation, meetings, and manager communication needs clear boundaries because these tasks affect trust, fairness, and accountability. You apply give AI your material, use TRUST, hold the three hard lines, build a consent-aware meeting workflow, and know when to write personally.

### Using AI for Decisions and Leading Team Change

AI-assisted judgement helps managers slow instinctive people, resource, priority, and scoping calls while keeping accountability clear and making team adoption fair. By the end, you can structure choices, stress-test reasoning, log decisions, map recurring work, and coach each adoption pattern.

### AI Safety, Team Policy, and Your 30-Day Plan

AI safety, team policy, and adoption planning help managers translate general approval into safe local practice for sensitive work, workflows, and deadline pressure. You leave able to apply the AI Safety Checklist, map data risk, set disclosure and Shadow AI guidance, draft a one-page policy, and build a dual-track plan.

## Assessment and certificate

The course closes with a timed final exam with a pass mark and a limited number of attempts. A pass issues a PDF certificate with its own serial, in the name of the Straits Institute for Applied AI. Cohort progress, at-risk learners and a CSV export are in the admin console throughout.

## About this course

### Do I need to be technical, or already using AI, to take this course?

No. The course assumes you manage people and are accountable for team output, not that you have an AI background. AI+ for Everyone (T1-01) is the recommended companion if you want the foundations first.

### I manage a small team. Is this pitched at larger organisations?

It works at either size. The course is written for anyone who leads people through their work — three reports or thirty — across marketing, customer service, clinical, operations, and engineering settings.

### How is this different from a general AI course?

It is built around the dual accountability of management: what you produce yourself, and what your team produces. The frameworks target management work specifically — delegation, 1:1s, performance documentation, coaching, and team adoption.

### My team is already using AI without telling me. What do I do?

That is a common starting position and the course treats it as one. It covers how to open the conversation about tools, policy, and transparency without driving usage further underground.

### Should I be worried about putting performance or personnel information into an AI tool?

Yes, and the course is explicit about it. It covers what stays out of a prompt, how to work with sensitive people-data safely, and where a manager's judgement must remain the deciding factor.

### How much time does it take to see a difference with my team?

The course ends with a dual-track 30-day plan that runs your own practice and your team's capability in parallel, so the change is built into your normal management rhythm rather than added on top of it.
